You want the safety net to be invisible to the engineer 90% of the time and unmissable the 10% of the time it matters.

This phase also surfaces the cultural dynamics that determine whether an AI rollout will stick: who are the enthusiasts, who are the skeptics, where is the informal power structure, and what does the team actually believe about AI's usefulness versus what they tell management they believe.
The second 30 days are a controlled pilot. We work with a volunteer team (never a conscript team; forced adoption fails) to implement AI-augmented workflows with proper guardrails. Otherwise, you've just purchased expensive seat licenses that your developers use to generate slightly more code that still takes just as long to get to production.

Every PE-backed engineering team will adopt AI. The question is whether they adopt it in a way that produces measurable, durable improvements in engineering delivery, or in a way that produces a line item on the technology budget and a vague sense that things should be getting better.
